§ 1-1. Purpose.

The purpose of this ordinance is to establish certain subdivision standards and procedures for the City of Norton, Virginia, and such of its environs as come under the jurisdiction of the city as provided by the Code of Virginia (1950), as amended.

This ordinance is part of a long-range plan to guide and facilitate the orderly, beneficial growth of the community, and to promote the public health, safety, convenience, comfort, prosperity and general welfare. This ordinance assists the community in meeting these responsibilities.
